heat wave finally broke.let's go fishin!!
this has been a miserable sob the past few day's .my air conditioner was barely keeping me cool.been stuck inside for day's i got cabin fever.but while i was cooped up i got all my poles restrung and restocked my taclie box.going to eat some breakfast and i'm out the door!i think i put on 15 pounds sitting around here eating all day.but it will come off not as fast as i put it on tho.my pond is very low and i noticed some fish floating.they say it's a lack of oxegen in the water.so i put me a fountain in as i was instucted.hope it all works out i got quite abit of money invest in hybrid fish in there.off i go get out there while it's cool never know when another heat wave will happen!!see ya!!!!!jim whitis in beardstown,il

heats back on!!
well we had 3 day's of fair weather now it's going in the triple digits again.did make it tover to my favorite pond and caught some nice crappie's witch amazed me but it is what it is.caught 6 pounds in fillets not bad for this time of the year.forcast up to next tuesday 100's and high 90's.guess i'll be trapped in the house for a while.oh well got plenty to do inside to keep me busy .stay cool out there.jim whitis in beardstown,il

the heat wave is over!!
the wearher finally broke high of 83 yesterday.today it's going to 79 i think i'll go fishing haven't been in a while .going after cpappie,bass,blue guill. going to the pond.haven't been over there in the past 2 weeks.i'm sure i'll have plenty yo do over there probably needs mowed but maybe not as hot as it's been.the weather man don't know what he's talking about .it was to be in the 90's all week not today.but they say tomorro back up there again.i guess i'll take it one day at a time.welp i'm outa here. jim whitis in beardstown,il along side of the illinios river.

i had a knot come up on belly tuesday morning and it hurt like the dickens.so i made a trip to see my doctor.lifted up my shirt and she told me to lay back.she then left the room for a few minutes and came back with 2 nurses.i said what is going on here she said she had to cut this blob of infaction out of me.so i tried it without any numbing that did not work she had to give me a couple shot's .then she cut pushed and pryed along with these 2 nurses.well she got some out but not all.i went back yesterday and she pushed some more.got a little more out.sent me home to put hot compress's on it all day and now.i go back up this morning to see if she can get the rest of this out of me.if not more cutting will be needed.i have never been cut on in my life nor had a broken bone in my 51 years.asked how i got this and she said i had to be in contact with some one who has this.i don't go around to many people.it's time find out who this carrier is.for those of you that know about this it's very bad staff infection.she informed me there was lot's of this sorta thing going on every day!hope this is the last day of the doctors office.haven't been out for 3 day's i sure don't want to pass this on to any one.wish me luck. jim whitis in beardstown,il

summer is here,fishing is still good tho!
yes it is getting hot out doors but the fishing is still great.been doing some trout lining for those who don't know what that is .it's a line with line leads every foot or so apart with a hook and swivel on it.bait them up and stake them on the bottom or top of the place your fishing come back and check them the next day.and most allway's have a few catfish on your line.lot's of fun.all other fishing is still good also.so get out there and do some fishing!!!jim whitis in beardstown,il

sattelite internet better than the rest!!!!
i got into it with att last month and told them to shove it!!i have dish tv so i called them and asked if they had internet and she told said sure do.so i told her to hook me up and was here the next morning and i was up and running within a hour after the tech arrived.i have been having trouble with it for some time now and got tired of it so i called them yesterday.well they got rite on it and done something and now it's running 15.8 mbps and holding.i was running 6.0 with att.this is a lot better i have to tell ya!so if your having any problems with your current provider this is the way to go!it is a little more money but it's worth every bit of it in my eyes.just sayin!!jim whitis in beardstown,il

a visit with mother nature.
hello again i have been away for some time now but am back now.had a couple of deaths in the family that hit close to home.i have put thet behind me and took off fishing for a couple of weeks.no camera's,no people just me and the great outdoors.nothing to clear your mind than a couple weeks camping to get shit back together in your head.and i have done alot of soul searching out there and mother nature got me back on track she will never let me or you down she is allway's there and if you just listen she will straighten you out.i did catch all sorts of fish on my little trip.back at home i cooked some mushroons i had frozen with a couple pounds of crappie all is good.i'm back!!!!!enjoy life my friends it is very short time.with that being said get out doors and do something. jimwhitis in beardstown,il

turkey time!!!but the catfish are biting .
i have been out trying to get everything ready for turkey hunting but not getting much done cause of all this fishing i'm doing.we got a bunch of rain and the sangamon river is up and the catfish are abitin!!there's just to much to do but i gotta tell ya it's all fun and i will get it all.i guess the turkey's can wait til these fish quit hitting like they are.i'll say it again been a screwed up year.let me tell ya something that will blow yout mind going down a back road the other day and saw frogs jumping across the road no water around but the river was a mile or so away.i'm talking about thousands of the bullfrogs that is.so i called up my nephews and sons and told them to get down here and filled 9 gunny sacks full.came back the next day and done the same.you tell me is the world bout to come to a end or what .i have never seen anything like this in my life but it's been like this for the past somethings about to happen my friends.oh well i have been eatin plenty good and it just keeps getting better .wouldn't surprise me to see it snow any day now.lol get out there and get ya some there's alot going on.

rain won't stop and it's time for turkey hunting.
well been raining now for the past 3 day's in beardstown,il.gues that's allright though we do need it but it's been coming down hard the river will be on the rise that's a good thing haven't been able to get up the sangamon this year so far.time to start thinking about turkey season.think i'm done with the mushroons for the year!got quite afew put in the freezer so i'm happy.now going after a few turkeys.haven't been fishing for awhile either this rain seems to start when i can go but things will get better.i think anyway the way this weather has been acting this year it may start snowing.lol.got to go to the doctor this morning to have a talk with doc about this colinostify that's probbaly spelled wrong but i'm sure you guy's out there know what i'm talking about?i'm not looking forward to this thing at all.but he say's i have to have it done.by for now get outdoors and do something if ya can.

at&t is not what they used to be!!
well i moved last week and have been down for the entire week.talked on the phone with at&t for 25-30 hours and they just seem not to care!i have been with them for the past 12 years and now i'm not!!they heehawed around and got me so pissed off i told them to shove it where the sun don't shine.i talked to 9 different agents in one hour and finally told them to just forget it.and hung now the phone has been ringing of the hook wanting me back.to late i went with dish network witch if my tv provider and it is just as good if not better.but i'm back up and running now so you'll be hearing quite abit about my terrible week with at&t.

mushrooning is over in beardstown,il
well it sure was a short season for the roons this year.i say it again i have never in 51 years seen one like this.it got warm in mid march and then it cooled way down.and ruined everything with 2-3 frosts we had but i still managed to put a few pounds in the freezer.i'm not done forsure i will follow the mushroons north as far as i can afford.i can make to savanna,il after that i will be done.i'd say igot another month of hunting the morels.i have some friends scattered from here to up there and they are finding them now.so i am heading north in the next day or 2.i would like to find another 50 fifty pounds to put up then i know i will have enough to last.so any one in northern illinios get ready they are out there and i think the season for you folks up there will be great.!!so get out there and get to picking good luck and don't give up they are a poppin!!!

road trip?
we took off yesterday going to check on some local mushrooning spots.their was cars and trucks parked all over the country side.we didn't even bother getting out and looking we decided to just ride around and check every one else out seen some pretty full bags.the weather has been so strange this year i can't read it at all.ended up at a fish fry had a few beers and then home to bed early.it is easter weekend and all think i'll let'm have it and relax.it's around 60 outside and going down in the low 30s at night .we'll see what next week brings.bye for now. jimwhitis in beardstown,il

vegatetion is going to take the mushroons over!!!
i did get out today.i know i said i wasn't but i just can't sit around knowing that there is some out there not getting picked i want them all.i did manage to find a pound and a half but the grass and weeds are going to be so tall when it get's rite again.you won't be able to see them through the vegetation.this is going to be another sucky year.i'm not getting any younger.i sure would like to see another bumper crop before i can't walk ant more.hope my buddies up north has a better year (but) it ain't over yet.i will not give upwe are going to attack them all weekend long.weekend warriors beware!!we will be out in full force and find or not i might stay in good enough condition to go again next year.

cold front put's the holt on everything!!
well we got the rain we needed so badly.but we also got the cool down.i went to my hot spot today for mushroons i found 7 of them.but i do have faith they will be ther it's only april 4th this place never has let me down it's allway's good for 35 to 40 + pounds.i will wait another 10 days and go back it will produce i'm sure.until next time. get out there and do something. jim whits in beardstown,il

mushrooning
well i have been busy all weekend.went roonong every day and the total was 14 pounds.get this they are allready stating to dry up!we need a good rain or it's going to be be over soon.they are calling foa a chance of rain tuesday,wensday, we will see.i stomped the brush pretty good and that's it.i'm going to wait till morning to go again think i'll go see about catching some fish today.hope you guy's up north of me get some rain not looking good here.but gotta remember it's real early should not of found anything for another 7-8 day's.this weather is strange.get out out doors and do something!!!

going rooning up the sangamon river
well we had rain most of yesterday.i think i'm going to drive up to chandlerville and put my boat in the sangamon river and come down.but first i have to find a willing sole to drive my truck back tp town.i know for sure i can go down river nut there is to many sandbars for me to go up river.should hit the mother load today.there is 19 miles of river bottoms to hunt from chandlerville to beardstown.gotta be carefull not to get lost there is alot of timber up there.some times i get looking down for mushroons and don't pay attention where i'm going.i have had afull good luck up there and this year the water did not go out of their banks.i'll keep you posted on todays hunt.get out there and get ya some!!!

sangamon river to low to get up! mushroons are poppin
well went and tried to get up the sangamon river this morning not happening .there's about 6 inches of water not near enough for my boat.it rained all morning chance all day either hpe we get a couple of inches to raise the sangamon or i'm going to have to take the boat up to chanlersville and put in there and drift down if i can't run.i'm sure the mushroons are up in the bottoms.i will get up there one way or another.been finding a few in the hills but i'm not liking the up and down of it.my legs aren't what they used to be.

i have freind of mine that catches these asian carp by the tonage.these boys catch75 thousand to 100 thousand pounds of these weekly.they dnr released these in are waterways back in the 70s.and reproduce more than rabbits.they have made it dangerous to even take a boat ride .when running your up or down the river the moror puts these fish in sa frenzy and they jump out of the water most of the time jump in your boat.i have been hit several times by these fish.they can grow up 50+ pounds.now we can go out and commercia; fish these crazy fish and maybe make dent in thier population.they are paying enough money for these fish a guy can make a good living.a young man that is.we use 34 foot plate boats to catch and haul these massive loads.maybe in a yesr or2 it may be safe to take a boat ride again.without a helmut on.lol

mushrooming and fishing
ok went out today and had a look at my early spots for rooms.nothing,but did catch 3/4 of a bucket of blue guill and crappie.still hitting good and sure it will get better the next 2 weeks.i think we need some warmer weather a front moved in this afernoon and it cooled a bunch.weatherman say's it's to be in the upper 70s in the afternoon tommorow .i think we need a few warm days to bring the mushrooms on up.but!! the fishing is plenty good so get out there and catch a few.

well after a nap and a breathing treatment feeling pretty good.just went out side to check on the weather looking good sun is trying to come out.think i will grab my fishing poles and my pillow case (mushroom bag) and head on out.if there is no roons yet i shall catch a few fish for supper.but i think i will find a few mushrooms and probably a few fish also.hope i am over this flu bug been a rough few days.if you live in central or southern illinios especially southern il get out there i know there up good down south of me.got a friend that lives down there and he's finding patches allready.good luck.get outdoors and do something!!!!

outdoors man
no going out doors today went to the doctor yesterday.bad news i have been fighting a cold for the last couple of weeks.mistake not going sooner.started gettting pains in my chest when i coughed stabbing pains.thought i had pnumonia i know that's spelled wrong.seems to be a new sorta flu going around guess what i got it.doc claims she has not seen anything this bad as of yet.so i got a shot in the butt and got nebulizer to use for a few day's that i will be home.feeling better allready.it's raining out so i will stay in today and there's a chance for rain for the next couple of day's.still it's in the low 70s.i will be picking mushrooms this weekend here in beardstown ,ilkeep a eye out for this flu bug it's a killer.til next time.jimwhitis.

morel mushrooms
well we went back out today to check some early mushroom spots.found about a pound or so.my eyes aren't what they used to be they are very small.but they are coming.supposed to rain the next couple of day's that will bring them for sure.been in the 80s the last 10 day's.mid 60s at night perfect weather.i'll post some pictures when we hit a patch.

hunting morel mushrooms
this has been some kinda of weather this year.i have never in my 51 years seen a winter this mild.all though the hunting was excelent and the fishing is great rite now.been filling my buckets daily with either crappies or blue gill.the bass are comeing on strong now also.that brimgs me to think the morel mushrooning season is going to be early.i live in a river town the illinios river that is and the river has not been out of it's banks as of yet.so that means i will be walking flat ground this year.i'm getting a little old for the hills.but still would if i had to.i think i will go out first of next week and give it a try.i will keep you informed.i will also add some pics if i can.get outdoors and live.
